Quarter 3 Newsletter

2024-2025

Hello, TBC Members! This issue of our newsletter wraps up this past quarter and introduces our upcoming events in Quarter 4. We would like to welcome all our new TBC members and thank all of our wonderful members and parents for their participation and tremendous support towards our organization.

Summer Program Registration

With summer already on us, we are happy to announce that summer program registration for Cadets, Royals, and Hastati regiments are still open! The Hastati Regiment is open to children entering grades 4+ in the 24-25 school year. As for the Cadet program, any band student who is a rising 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade is eligible for the summer season. The Royal Regiment is open to band students who are rising sophomores or older. Join to demonstrate and explore your passion for music, make new friends, and earn service hours. The registration forms for all programs can be found on our website through our programs tab. We are looking forward to this great season ahead!

Cadets

While ending our season earlier than planned, Cadets had an amazing spring season at the SJ Lunar New Years parade and the judged SF Chinese New Year, in which Cadets won 1st place in the middle school marching band category. We are excited for the start of our summer season. Invite your friends to sign up and rehearse under the guidance of professionals, perform in front of thousands of others in our summer parades, and have fun! Summer Cadets can TA for our elementary band program for volunteer hours! Find the information to sign up and apply here!

Hastati

Hastati’s Fremont Advanced Band performed at the NCBA Large Ensemble Concert on April 5th, 2025, receiving a score of good, and the entire Hastati Regiment and Highland Regiment had its concert on May 24th, 2025 during TBC’s annual Spring Concert at San Mateo Performing Art Center. With the end of our school year season on a great note, another great season is beginning in the summer! Sign ups are still open.

Winter Drum Major

Winter Drum Major rehearsals went well, with a few rehearsal conflicts; however, the students were able to learn all foundational moves, such as prop spin, rifle tosses, thumb roll/handrolls, both roundhouses and behind the back. There were some issues, such as equipment issues at the start of the season and getting the judges’ scores and adjudication sent to the competitors. However, they received their equipment before their first show, along with their scores and adjudication before their following shows. They have done well this season, and we can’t wait to see how much more they can improve. Additionally, our drum major, guard, and percussion clinic is on June 14th, 9am-5pm. Register for the clinic here!

Tri-City Percussion

TCP Regionals competed in WGI regional prelims and made it to finals! We also had a Spring clinic as an opportunity for prospective members to learn from world-class instructors. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support! As mentioned before, our drum major, guard, and percussion clinic is on June 14th, 9am-5pm, and auditions will be held in the fall.

Special Needs Percussion

Our SNP program had their competition at Foothill High School, and we’re so proud of all their hard work this season! Registration for next year will open in the fall and close in early December. They played Take A Chance on Me, SOS, and Dancing Queen by ABBA from Mamma Mia. Shoutout to Ms. Kraft for helping lead this program, FCSN, the TAs, parents, and the amazing performers!

Winter Guard

Imperialis and Immortalis are TBC’s Winter Guard programs led by Colin Apperson and Victor Ramos with guest instructors, Ben Wilkinson, Fou Saelee, Mona Lam, Cathy Wang, and Kelsey Dougherty. They both performed at CCGC's James Logan, Dublin, and Championships Show on February 15th, March 15th, and March 29th, respectively. Registration for next year isn’t open yet.

General Officer Applications

With its 20th anniversary just last year on July 11, 2024, TBC, growing from a small group with only the Royals program, has now reached over 9000 members around the Bay Area. Just this year, we built a new South Bay (Silicon Valley Band Corps) team, and in 2025, we plan to expand even further with a new Tri-Valley chapter! And we couldn't do it without all of our hard-working and wonderful student officers. Our officers are students who are looking to develop their leadership and management skills as well as practice those skills in a real-life environment. Applications are accepted year-round for open roles! We hope you can be part of an amazing officer team and TBC’s next monumental milestone.

South Bay

Since being founded this year, the South Bay Branch has been working alongside the East Bay Branch along with coordinating their own events! This includes organizing free college counseling and supporting TCP by supplying food during competitions. We’re excited to watch it grow even more in the future!

Bonding

For quarter 3 bonding, officers gathered at Cinemark Century to watch the new Snow White movie on March 22. Officers were able to enjoy the arcade and buy drinks, popcorn and snacks to enjoy the movie. It was a great way to laugh and bond together while watching a movie!

TBC held a successful See’s Candies fundraiser earlier this year from January 8 to January 26. A portion of the proceeds went directly toward funding our programs, including our Elementary and Cadet programs. In addition, thank you to everyone who purchased gift cards through ShopWithScrip, and those who stopped by on May 17th at ShareTea and bought boba to support us! Thank you for your continued support in helping us fund our programs and provide the best experience for our students! Starting June 4th until July 6th, TBC will be volunteering at the Alameda County Fair. Anyone over the age of 12 can volunteer. For every hour you volunteer, the fair donates $6 to TBC. As a volunteer, you’ll not only support TBC, but also receive free fair tickets, service hours, and merchandise! Sign-up Instructions can be found here!

Additionally, this year TBC is partnering with Levi’s Stadium for another fundraiser. One must be over the age of 18 in order to volunteer and for every hour you volunteer, Levi’s StadiumSave the dates for these events (which are generally in the afternoon or evening): June 20 and 22nd, July 2nd, 8th, and 9th, August 1st and 2nd, September 13th, 21st, and 28th, October 4th and 19th, November 9th, 24th, December 14th and 28th. This March, TBC received four brand new tenor saxophones for our programs thanks to the generous grant from the local Candle Lighters Ghost House. We cannot thank them enough for their support and are thrilled to continue supporting our community alongside them. These saxophones will be available for rent and purchase to our members, and we are excited to have more instruments to provide our students.
