Donations

Each year, it costs us over $100,000 to operate our programs for facility rentals, sheet music, competition registration fees, staffing, operations, insurance, thank-you gifts for our TAs, and so much more. It is also our core value that music programs be available for all students regardless of their financial status. To that end, we have provided FREE options for all students as well as instrument rentals for low-income families. We ask that families who can support the program with a financial donation please do so, but for those who cannot, parents may instead volunteer their time at TBC events and fundraisers to offset the cost for their child. Families needing additional support should reach out to us for options.

*Siblings receive a 25% discount on the same or lower-level membership

**All contributions are considered donations and are fully tax-deductible

***50% of corporate matching donations are credited to your student

Want to learn what the Cadets are all about?

Come join our award-winning marching band program!

About Us

The Cadet Regiment is open to all current sixth, seventh, and eighth graders from all schools. Students will be rehearsing to perform in several parades throughout the year. Participants will get a chance to meet band students from across the Bay Area, learn how to march, and perform in front of tens of thousands of audience members.

This program was created to provide junior high students with the opportunity to participate in marching band before high school so that musicians can gain experience and be better prepared for high school music programs. This not only allows participants to meet like-minded, dedicated students from other schools but also strengthens the high school marching programs. Most of the top high school marching band programs begin marching programs in junior high. With the implementation of the Cadet Regiment, we hope to improve the quality of marching programs in the community and see a growth in membership at local high schools.

Student Staff

Nikolas Pabla

Executive Director of Auxiliary Programs

Nikolas Pabla is a junior at Mission San Jose High School. This is his second year with TBC, and he plays the alto saxophone. He would love to live in a coastal city in California where the mountains meet the ocean. The weather is amazing almost all year round, which means he could be outside whenever he wants without worrying too much about extreme cold or heat. California also has basically everything you could ever ask for — beaches, big cities, nature, great food, and tons of things to do. Plus, having places like Disneyland nearby just adds to the fun and makes it feel like there’s always something exciting within reach. If he could time travel, he would visit the 1990s. He thinks it would be cool to experience life before smartphones took over, when people hung out more in person and music, movies, and fashion had a totally different vibe. He’d want to see what everyday life actually felt like back then. He would choose to speak with eagles. He likes the idea of hearing stories from a creature that sees the world from thousands of feet in the air. Eagles travel far, see everything, and symbolize freedom, which makes them a pretty powerful animal to connect with.

Lea Canimo

Cadet Regiment Director (East Bay)

Lea Antoinette Canimo is a sophomore at Irvington Highschool. This is her fifth or more year in TBC, and she plays trumpet. Lea's dream place to live is a place where she can get free breakfast. But realistically, she would want to live in a place like Monterey or a small city on the coastline. If she was a time traveler, she would want to visit the 1940's because it was when the first issue of Captain America was released. If Lea could speak an animal language fluently, she would choose to communicate with squirels since she thinks they are cute and want to know what they think about.

Rishi Parmar

Cadet Regiment Director (Tri-Valley)

Rishi is a sophomore at Emerald High School. This is his second year with TBC, and he plays the bass clarinet. Rishi would like to live in New York since it is an extremely fun and interesting place to live in. There are many things to do in the city. If Rishi was a time traveler, he would go back to the early 2000s. This is because he would want to see how quickly things had evolved since that time. If Rishi could talk to one animal fluently, he would talk to cats. This is because he thinks that cats are an extremely common animal which would be interesting to have conversations with.

Emma Cai

Guard Director

Emma Cai is a sophomore at Mission San Jose High School. This is her first year with TBC, and she plays the flute. Emma’s dream place to live in is China because the food is so good and there is cheap takeout. There is an endless variety of food and activities. If Emma was a time traveler, she would want to go to the future to see how much the world has changed. If Emma could speak one animal language fluently, she would choose the cat species because then she would be able to communicate with her cats.

Ruyi Wang

Cadet Regiment Director (Silicon Valley)

Ruyi Wang is a freshman at Stratford Preparatory Blackford. This is her first year in TBC and she is in Colorguard. Ruyi's dream place to live in is Vancouver, Canada, because she has been there on vacation before and loves the environment. If Ruyi were a time traveler, should would visit the 2000s first because she wishes to find out how it was like to be in school during this iconic period. If Ruyi could speak one animal language fluently, she would choose to communicate with birds because she would like to know what it is like to fly.

WHY JOIN?

Make new friends from other schools: The Cadet Regiment offers junior high school students the unparalleled opportunity to meet music students from across the Tri-City area! During rehearsals and parades, participants will learn to work as a team and create lasting friendships as they bond during these fulfilling activities.

Perform to Improve: TBC Cadet Regiment is the growing foundation for both high school marching bands and our renowned Royal Regiment. As the only junior high marching band in the Tri-City area, the Cadet Regiment welcomes junior high students who are interested in joining the marching band in the future.

Get a head start in high school: Learn marching fundamentals and gain performance experience during summer parades! Students will train in marching basics, preparing them for high school marching band and strengthening our local high school marching groups.

Leadership Opportunities: Student officers run just about everything in TBC and practice leadership skills frequently. Cadets who have successfully finished a parade season with us can apply for a Leadership Position in our Cadet Leadership Team. This team will work alongside our staff to help run rehearsals as well as provide input on Cadet Regiment events. When Cadet Regiment participants graduate and go on to join the high school groups, they’ll be able to enter high school as officers.

Community Service (for high school students): High school students have the chance to participate with the Cadet Regiment by training and mentoring the junior high participants. By volunteering their time teaching and helping out, these students earn service hours, potentially qualify for some of TBC’s service learning awards, and contribute back to the community!
