2019-2020
Quarter Four
Newsletter
Greetings, TBC members and parents! This issue of our newsletter introduces our upcoming events and wraps up this past quarter. As the fourth and final quarter of our 2019-20 year comes to a close, we'd like to thank all of our wonderful members and parents for their tremendous support and participation.
Coronavirus Update
TBC has been and will always be committed to putting our members’ health first. Due to the continued risks associated with COVID-19, we canceled our Summer 2020 season for both our Royal and Cadet Regiments and transitioned our Elementary Beginning Band into an online format.
Unfortunately, TBC has lost many of our fundraising opportunities this summer, including the cancellation of pasta feed, CMEA, the Fremont Festival of Arts, summer BBQ, and Gilroy Garlic Festival fundraisers, which collectively bring in about $7500 annually. Yet, throughout this pandemic, TBC has continued and even expanded programs such as our Elementary Beginning Band, which is the only elementary music program still active during the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, we’ve added a series of free online courses in leadership, conducting, technology, and management to better train and prepare our officers.
Now, more than ever, we need your support during these trying times. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation on our website here. Thank you in advance for your continued support!
TBC Healthcare Workers’ Donation Drive
At TBC, we give our heartfelt thanks to all of the healthcare workers in our community, diligently fighting COVID-19. To help give back to those fighting in the front lines, TBC ran a meal donation drive in which we partnered with The Bento Box in successfully donating over 100 meals to workers. Thank you to all of those who supported this fundraiser. We couldn’t have done it without you all!
TBC Beginning Band
TBC’s Beginning Band has successfully kicked off our Summer 2020 season. The entire program has transitioned into an online format featuring, sectionals, pre-recorded lessons, and 1:1 lessons with our 50 TAs. Over 100 students are having a blast learning how to play a band instrument.
Our 20-21 Officer Team
This newsletter marks the end of our 2019-2020 officer term. To our graduating officers: Through all of your efforts, we have been able to work towards our ultimate goal of sharing our love of music one step at a time! Please continue to support us as we transition to a new officer team. We would like to wish all graduating seniors the best of luck in college and beyond. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication towards TBC! We wouldn’t be the same without you all.
With that said, please welcome this upcoming term’s officer team! We look forward to all the things that we will accomplish this coming year together! We still have open positions, those interested can apply here.

Fall 2020 Programs
TBC is always proactively planning ahead. We are currently looking into extending our virtual class format through the upcoming Fall 2020 season. We plan to continue hosting the Elementary band program through a bevy of mediums, including Student-TA video calls and pre-recorded lessons by teachers.
Sincerely,
Alvin Tsui
2019-20 Chief Operations Officer
