Dalia Jazrawi
2021-2022 Director of Elementary Programs (Fremont)
School: Mission San Jose High School
I started TBC several years ago and it has been one of the most educational and worthwhile experiences I have had. I spent my first year in the finance department helping TBC out with grants, organizing fundraisers, volunteering, and more which have given me so much insight into how much work is needed to run an organization. I also learned so much about how to delegate tasks, improve my writing skills, and have allowed me to build team working abilities. I have also learned to be responsible and diligent, especially when going over TBC’s finances. All these traits and learned experiences have shaped who I am today! Not only was I able to gain so many fantastic and useful life skills, I was also able to create bonds and make friends within the finance team making my overall experience with TBC incredibly enjoyable! After spending around a year with the finance department, TBC had an amazing opportunity where they had an open position for an Executive position, Deputy Director of Elementary Programs. And a couple months after that, another opportunity presented itself as the position for Director of Elementary Programs became open as well. TBC’s ability to always provide the best opportunities for its officers and also help officers to move up and be able to make your time with TBC worthwhile is super important to me and I am gracious towards TBC for being able to allow me to move up all the way to exec. In this position, I was able to transition into running an entire program with hundreds of students and almost a hundred TAs. Although the responsibility and workload for this role was high maintenance, it does not compare to the amount of satisfaction this role has brought me. I have been able to see students learn and enjoy playing their instruments and improve as the year would go on! I would also see grateful parents who were proud of their musically-inclined children! This role has taught me so much and it has given me so much experience in skills that I apply in other places in my life. This program has shown me that TBC makes a tangible impact on our community as we have provided hundreds more elementary students the free opportunity to learn music which has overall kept music alive in our schools! From my officer roles, TBC has given me innumerable positive experiences and leadership skills that have helped me throughout my life.
