I enrolled Prisha in TBC’s Hastati Regiment in 2018 when she was in fourth grade, hoping to give her her first experience and opportunity to improve on the band instrument she had been learning in school. During her first year she was fairly shy, so it was rewarding to watch her slowly come out of her shell as she began performing in parades and concerts. As she progressed through the Hastati and Cadet Regiments, I saw her form lasting friendships and grow more comfortable speaking up and working with others. When she became a Teaching Assistant, she took on a new level of responsibility. Over the years, TBC has helped her become significantly more organized, accountable, and dependable, skills that have carried into her schoolwork and daily life. Now, as the Executive Director of Elementary Programs, I’ve watched her go from performing at events to emceeing them and leading a large program with confidence and professionalism. She puts an incredible amount of time and energy into her role, and while she somehow always manages to get me involved as well, it’s clear how much she genuinely cares about the job. TBC has taught her meaningful lessons in leadership and responsibility through real experience rather than simply theory. I am grateful for the opportunities TBC has provided and for the role it has played in shaping her into a capable, motivated young leader.
