During the summer after my 8th grade year, I joined TBC as part of the Cadet Regiment after my mom encouraged me to join color guard with one of my closest friends. At the time, I had no experience in marching band or color guard and was nervous about what I would be met with. To my surprise, everyone was extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful, which made me feel included from the very beginning. Through Cadet Regiment, I learned important marching band fundamentals while also building strong friendships and having a lot of fun. This experience showed me how enjoyable and rewarding marching band truly is. Once Cadet Regiment ended, I applied to be part of the Tri-City Band Corps officer team. Being on the officer team taught me how to better manage my time, understand the importance of meeting deadlines, and speak up when necessary. It also helped me improve my organizational and leadership skills. Although I made mistakes throughout the process, I was given the opportunity to learn from them and grow, which helped me become more confident in my abilities. As a Supply Officer, I genuinely enjoy my responsibilities. I collect, organize, and keep track of the many band essentials and uniforms our group needs, making sure everything is accounted for and ready when needed. This role has helped me become more detail-oriented, responsible, and dependable. Through TBC, I’ve made meaningful friendships and connections that will stay with me for a long time. I am incredibly thankful to TBC for all the opportunities it has given me, and this has been a very enjoyable and memorable experience.
