Quarter Two

Newsletter

Greetings, TBC Members! This issue of our newsletter wraps up this past quarter and introduces our upcoming events. We would like to thank all of our wonderful members and parents for their participation and tremendous support towards our organization.

Elementary Band Program

TBC’s elementary band has continued to make great progress and over 250 students are having a blast learning how to play a band instrument! Over the winter break, our amazing technology team completed editing a virtual concert in which our students played through Jingle Bells. We are so proud of our students and the progress they have made. You can watch the video here. Please be on the lookout for more videos to come later this year!

We could always use more TAs for our program, so if you or someone you know is willing to take on a student, please consider signing up to be a TA. In order to sign up, please fill out the registration form here.

Eternal Regiment

TBC’s eternal regiment has also continued to make excellent progress and students are currently learning many color guard techniques and choreography. We hope to continue offering color guard to more people and provide more insight into this program.

College Counseling Sessions

With the coronavirus impacting the world in numerous ways, college admissions are changing. TBC will be hosting two free presentations over Zoom geared towards parents and students of all ages to help make an informed decision for their high school class selection, clubs, activities, and how the performing arts can help you. The first session will take place on Saturday, February 20th from 6-8 PM for high school students, and the second on Sunday, March 7th from 1-3 PM for students in Junior High or Elementary school. Registration is required so be sure to sign up using this link. Hope you can attend!

2021-2022 Executive/Department Head Applications

Do you have what it takes to be an executive officer or a department head for TBC? We are excited to announce that our Executive/Department Head officer applications are now open! The executive team along with the department heads oversee the entirety of TBC and are the highest-ranking officers within the organization. Executive officers work with extremely high expectations of responsibility, punctuality, and integrity, as expected of our most senior officers. To apply, please fill out the application form here. We look forward to receiving your applications!

2021-2022 General Officer Applications

Please be on the lookout for our general officer applications which will be opening in March! TBC owes all of its success to the amazing help and dedication from our officers. Becoming an officer is an extremely valuable experience that will provide an opportunity to develop leadership and management skills in a professional environment. There is a huge range of officer positions, so there is always something for everyone to apply for. We would love to have you on our team!

GoFundMe Fundraiser

An enormous thank you to everyone who donated to the TBC Elementary Band GoFundMe program! With your help, TBC raised $3,205 for our elementary band program. All proceeds will go toward instruments and equipment purchases or other logistical costs, including Zoom accounts, employing local music teachers, and SmartMusic accounts.

Donations

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, TBC has lost $12,000 from canceled events and fundraisers. Now, more than ever, we need your support during these trying times. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation here, any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your continued support!

New Garment Bags/Merchandise

TBC recently purchased new garment bags for our uniforms along with new merchandise! Our new hats feature a new design and our lanyards have been restocked. Tri-City Band Corps hats and lanyards can be purchased through our website here.

Sincerely,

Suhas Palawala
